Veneers Q & A

What are veneers?

Veneers are one of the most popular treatments in cosmetic dentistry, and they can give you a beautiful new smile with a minimally invasive and affordable procedure. They’re thin porcelain shells that are custom-designed to look just like the front of your natural teeth. Dr. Arejian permanently bonds your veneers to your teeth, where they blend in and give your smile a naturally improved appearance.

How do veneers improve my smile?

Veneers cover up the entire front side of your tooth, enabling Dr. Arejian to enhance the appearance of your smile by masking any aesthetic concerns. Specifically, veneers can cosmetically improve:

  • Teeth that are cracked, chipped, or worn-down
  • Stained teeth
  • Uneven or misshapen teeth
  • Large gaps between teeth

With veneers, you can have a brand new smile that’s more radiant, symmetrical, and attractive.

What makes veneers unique?

Veneers are less invasive than other restoration methods, like crowns, so Dr. Arejian can significantly improve the appearance of your smile without having to alter as much of your natural tooth structures.

Porcelain veneers have a similar color as your natural teeth, and they reflect light in similar ways, as well. This means that your veneers look perfectly natural in your smile, and nobody can tell that you had cosmetic work done.

Veneers are also stain-resistant, so your smile stays whiter and brighter than it would with your natural teeth.

What’s the process of getting veneers?

It only takes Dr. Arejian a couple of office visits to radically transform your smile with veneers. During your first visit, she shaves a thin layer of enamel from the front side of your teeth, which gives your veneers room to lay flat and stay in line with your gums.

Then, she takes an impression of your smile that she sends to a dental lab. The lab fabricates your veneers while you wear a set of temporaries on your teeth, which typically takes a couple of weeks.

You come back for a second visit when your permanent veneers are ready. Dr. Arejian puts them on your teeth, checks to make sure that they fit perfectly and look excellent, then permanently bonds them, giving you a gorgeous new smile.
